This month's theme for Lil Reader's Book Club is all about mysterious, or perhaps, misunderstood characters. Let's take a peek inside the Big Bad Box.

As you open your box, the first thing you will see is the workbook and parent guide. This will be a guide to help you complete your box successfully. It provides instructions for each of the crafts and is full of activities and questions to go along with the books and theme of the box. You will find ready-to-go crafts along with a folder containing all of the paper items you will need.

The books in the Big Bad Box feature a few classic stories with a fun twist!

The Three Little Pugs and the Big, Bad Cat by Becky Davies and Caroline Attia

Three Little Pugs left their home hoping to build their own. Each of the pugs built their homes; one of straw, one of sticks, and one of bricks. The Big Bad Cat tried to blow their houses down but the pugs outsmarted her in the long run.

The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs by Jon Scieszka and Lane Smith

The Big Bad Wolf was supposedly making his granny a birthday cake when he ran out of sugar. He visited his neighbor's house, who happened to be a pig, to borrow some sugar when his cold caught up to him. He sneezed and blew his straw house down. He continued onto two other houses hoping to find some sugar but found two other pigs instead.

What Really Happened to Humpty? by Jeanie Franz Ransom and Stephen Axelsen

Joe Dumpty, Humpty Dumpty's younger brother, uses his best detective skills to figure out what actually happened to Humpty when he fell off the wall. This story is a mysterious twist of the story of Humpty Dumpty.

Here are some fun ready-to-go crafts you will find in your box that go along with the theme of the month. Each craft comes with step-by-step instructions on how to complete it.

The Three Little Pigs Story Puppets

Color and cut out each house. Glue on the hay, sticks, and bricks. Let them dry. Attach a large craft stick to the back of each house. Cut out the pig and wolf and glue them to a popsicle stick. Allow to dry.

Use your stick puppets to retell the classic story of the Three Little Pigs.

Humpty Dumpty

Create your very own Humpty Dumpty.

Wanted Poster

Create a "Wanted" poster for one of your favorite story book villains. Draw a photo and write a description of your villain.

The Big Bad Wolf is wanted for destroying the little pig's houses.

The Big Bad Wolf Paper Bag Puppet

Step 1: Cut out the eyes and teeth from the provided sheet.

Step 2: Draw a snout and two ears using the brown construction paper. Cut them out and glue them to the brown paper bag.

Step 3: Attach the eyes and teeth.

Step 4: Color the end of the snout to create a nose.

Step 5: Glue the brown crinkle paper onto the bag to create fur.

Use your puppet to retell the story of The True Story of the Three Little Pigs or make up your own story about a wolf.
