Recipes for Kids: Hamburger Cookies

Recipes for Kids: Hamburger Cookies

This Hamburger Cookie recipe is the perfect treat for those upcoming summer picnics and barbeques. My mom has been making these cookies for me and my friends since I was a child and they have always been a hit. (Hi, mom!) They are easy for kids to make and even more fun to eat!

Here is what you will need to make them:

  • Vanilla Wafer Cookies
  • Mint Cookies
  • Shredded Coconut
  • Green Food Coloring
  • Sesame Seeds
  • Small Bowl of Water
  • Red and Yellow Frosting

Start by adding a couple drops of green food coloring to your coconut. Mix it well. This will become the lettuce of your hamburger. Coconut isn't always a fan favorite so you can leave it off if you choose to.

Place a small dab of yellow frosting (mustard) on the flat side of your vanilla wafer cookie.

Add a mint cookie on top, pressing lightly so that the yellow frosting spreads towards the edge of the cookie. Add a dab of red frosting (ketchup) on top of the mint cookie.

Put a small amount of the green coconut on top of the red frosting.

Squeeze it all together with another vanilla wafer cookie to form your hamburger.

Top your hamburger with sesame seeds for an added touch. Use a dab of water to get them to stick.

These cookies are the perfect addition to any summer potluck or picnic. What other types of foods would make fun treats like this? Share your creations with us on all socials @subscriptionboxkids!
